One of the first things most new owners of the Fiesta ST do is go for a remap or tuning package why not it’s a great idea to further improve an amazing chassis. We do however over look the inherit down side to the punchy ecoboost direct injection engine. Injectors are no longer inefficiently built into the inlet manifold where they fire fuel into the head and topside of the valves, they are now a high pressure unit found firing directly into the cylinders at high pressure (click here to find out more) this coupled with the engine breather system directing the oily mist from the engines directly back into the intake path through the turbo and ultimately over the inlet valves we have a recipe for massive carbon deposits around the head and inlet valve. This would have previously been washed away by the port style injectors in days gone by. That said, a catch can was still used in most cases on performance cars to help oil management during hard cornering and engines that breath particularly heavy.

WHY BILLET JIC FITTINGS?

Anyone with engineering or motorsport experience will tell you that the only true way for pipe installation and fluid control is done with JIC fittings and definitely not jubilee style clips, with a correctly fitted JIC fitting there is a total guarantee of avoiding a leak path which is not the case with a jubilee clip.

THE DIP STICK:

People often ask why did we go to the extra length of having a removable oil dipstick in our Fiesta catch can? Our answer is it’s the attention to detail that makes VUDU the brand that it is. Yes splitting the can is easy and yes we included a drain plug to so it can be drained without splitting or removing, but why not go one step further and allow the user to check the oil content with the original sealed thumb screw dipstick?
