Posted by Sam Matthews on
This weekend, VUDU Performance representatives Nick, Andy and Ben were flying the VUDU flag high as they entered the prestigious Time Attack Championship at Cadwell Park!
Time Attack has quickly risen to become one of the most significant track events since the turn of the millennium, captivating a generation of petrol heads around the globe. Multiple classes are employed to give relevance and purpose to a wide variety of drivers and vehicles, all competing for their respected class trophy.
In the week leading up to the event, the team at VUDU Performance worked tirelessly to get all 3 cars up to the standard required to compete at the very top of their classes in the first round of the Time Attack Championship.

The day itself was full of passion, emotion and tears, but it turned out to exceed even our highest expectations!
We started the day in fine form and put in some superb lap times before disaster struck mid-way through the qualifying rounds when the weather took a turn for the worst. The wet conditions proved difficult for the race car and Andy was helpless as the heavy rain caused the car to spin off and clip one of the track’s large tyre walls. To make matters worse, Nick in the Voodoo car clipped one of the curbs on the track which caused the car to completely cut out after turning on the engine’s emergency assistance. Ben's car ran faultlessly up until the turn in the weather, it was the only the wet conditions that caused Ben to tail off later on in the day. VUDU technicians, Elliot and Callum, persevered and their forward thinking allowed them to quickly repair the minor damages caused to our Fiesta vehicles, allowing our drivers to continue to do what they do best…
All three of our VUDU representative drivers eventually came through the day unscathed, setting impressive lap times in qualifying before finishing 1st, 2nd and 8th respectively in the final Time Attack Championship heat.
A huge success and a priceless experience for the VUDU Performance team, the drivers of course had their say on the day’s proceedings:
Ben Copson (2nd Place):
“A fantastic day all round today! The first round has gone superbly well and the VUDU Team has come away with a first and second place! We’ve had wet and horrible conditions, but we can safely say we’ve done ourselves proud.”
Andy Taylor (8th Place):
"Well it was difficult in the changing conditions; we had a good morning in the dry and we were flying... but in the wet… well… we’ve learned a lot.”
Nick Cook (1st Place):
“Really happy obviously. We came with no pressure on our backs and I’m just super proud of the whole team. More than anything we’ve had a great day bar a few battle scars, but we’re going home in one piece with a couple of trophies.”
The whole team would personally like to express our gratitude to all our suppliers and sponsors for helping us along the way with such fantastic support. We are excited to see what our future holds in the competition hope you all enjoy following our journey throughout the race season.
