If you are looking to upgrade your downpipe exhaust then you will have come to the debate of whether to go for a Sports Cat or a Decat. In the Sports Cat, there is a modified catalyst that filters out emissions while still providing a much higher flow of air than the stock system. Due to the Sports Cat having a 200 cell Catalyst, it is more likely to pass an MOT inspection than a decat.

On the other hand, the Decat is a straight pipe with no restrictions. This allows for the most free-flowing exhaust system, getting the most power from your engine and raising the noise of the exhaust to its potential. The downside to using a decat is that it will likely fail your MOT as it will not meet the emissions level required. The way to bypass this is to either refit the stock downpipe for the MOT or find a friendly MOT tester who will pass you regardless.
