The latest addition to the Toyota Yaris GR Tuning collection is the Airtec Motorsport Oil Catch Can kit.

The Oil Catch Can kit is an essential tool to preserve the health of the engine and to prevent deterioration over time. Due to the Yaris sporting a direct injection engine there is a high likelihood of carbon build-up inside the engines intake system over time. The oil catch can have been designed to prevent this build-up and maintain the same engine performance as if it were new.

AIRTEC have designed this catch can to specifically for the Yaris GR engine bay to seamlessly utisile the available space, allowing it to blend into the engine bay. The Can feature an internal baffle and dipstick, which allows for easy maintenance.

Why you NEED a catch can?

The direct injection engines have the fuel injector mounted on the cylinder to provide better fuel economy and slightly better power. The problem with this is the back of the intake valves become coated with carbon deposits. On older models, the spray of fuel directed onto the valves prevented this from happening as modern fuel contain cleaning elements.

However, when this carbon starts to build up enough it can cause the car to cause rough idling, stumbling on acceleration, stalling and lack of power. Once the carbon has built up you can walnut blast the carbon off but this can be an expensive procedure.

The cheaper alternative is to use an oil catch can which catch excessive amounts of oil that may be present in the intake system before it enters the cylinder.
